Ph D in Neuroscience

If you are aspiring to pursue PhD in Neuroscience at NBRC, you must have M.Sc (Physics/ Mathematics), B.E./ B.Tech/M.C.A. in Computer Science.

Ph D in Computational Biology

Candidates should have M.Sc., M.E., M.Tech., or M.C.A. degrees ​in any engineering or science discipline. Along with academic qualifications, applicants must also have a strong interest in biological problems.

Integrated M.Sc. / M.Tech – Ph.D in Physics

What is JEST Exam Pattern?

It is crucial for those who plan to take the Joint Examination Screening Test exam. Knowing test patterns will benefit you in a variety of ways on the final day of the exam that are selecting the extremely important section, how much time you will need to give on a question, and others.

(I) Total Number of Questions: The Joint Entrance Screening Test question paper given to the participants shall consist of a total of 50 questions.

(II) Type of Question: The JEST entrance exam for PhD and Integrated PhD is an objective or multiple-based paper.

(III) Number of Sections: The JEST exam question paper has been distributed in three sections, comprising Section A, Section B, and Section C.

(IV) Mode of Examination: It is a pencil-paper-based entrance exam conducted in different cities across India. More so, the JEST exam is a single paper or single-session test.

(V) Duration: The JEST exam is carried out by the statutory Board for 180 minutes or 3hrs. (VI) Total Marks: This multiple-type entrance test shall consist of 50 questions with a weightage of 100 marks.

(VIII) Medium: The Joint Entrance Screening Test will be conducted in the English language only.

What is the Marking Scheme for JEST Exam?

This entrance test is conducted for 100 marks to shortlist the candidates for PhD and Integrated PhD programme. It consists of three sections under which a different number of questions are asked. Section A, there will have 15 questions, and section B will have 10 questions, whereas section C shall contain 25 questions. Below is detail about the marking scheme:

(a) Marking Scheme for Correct Answer: 3 marks (+3) will be awarded for each correct answer in sections A & B, whereas one mark (+1) will be given for each right answer in section C.

(b) Negative Marking: (-1) mark will be deducted for the wrong answer in sections B & C, whereas (-1/3) marks will be subtracted for each incorrect answer.

(c) Un-attempted Questions: According to the official advertisement, no marks will be deducted for not attempting questions.

JEST exam is organized to select students for allowing admission into PhD and Integrated PhD programme in physics, computational biology, Neuroscience, and other disciplines. How to Apply JEST Application Form?

The process of filling JEST application form is quite easy. You, as a candidate, shall first require to register himself/herself by providing the basic and personal details. Upon completing this step, you will obtain the login credentials for further steps.

 Step 1: Registration

Before you log in to fill in the application form, you will have to register with your personal email-id (must be active), your name, and other basic details. When you submit your registration details, you will be emailed with your account info and password. Keep it safe for the future.

Step 2: Filling Academic Qualifications

The next step of the application process is to fill in the requisite academic details. For this, you will have to open your dashboard with registration credentials. You, as an applicant, shall insert the details such as your Father’s Name, qualifications, Date of Birth, courses, colleges, and amongst others.

When you submit all the mandatory entries carefully, press the “Submit Application” button and jump to the next step. 

Step 5: Select the Exam Centre

The participants can choose and mark the exam location that is most convenient for them. Nearly 38 cities host the JEST exam, and candidates can select any of them spread across India.

Step 4: Uploading Documents

After entering all the required academic and other details, you may start the process of uploading scanned images. During the process, you could be required to upload your passport-size colour photo in the appropriate format and size along with your signature (File-Type: jpg, jpeg, png).

Step 5: Making Payment

The last step is paying the amount of the application form as per the prescription. The application fee can be paid online using Debit/Credit cards and Net-banking. However, the different categories of students are charged a different amounts.

The male candidates belonging to the unreserved category will have to pay Rs. 800, while female non-SC/ST candidates may require to pay INR 400.

SC/ST male applicants are waived 50% of the total application charge. They may require to pay Rs 400, while the application fee is waived for female candidates belonging to SC/ST category.

How to Download JEST Exam Admit Card?

The admit card is a crucial piece of documentation while taking an entrance exam. Students won’t be able to enter the testing facility without it.

Anyone who successfully completed their application within the deadline can receive their hall ticket from JEST’s official website. More so, 1-2 weeks prior to the examination, the hall ticket will be distributed online.

The candidates are recommended to print their hall tickets on colored picture paper from the official website (https://www.jest.org.in/). Applicants can obtain their admit cards by carrying out the following steps:

(A) Go to the Joint Entrance Screening Test’s official website.
(c) You’ll find there a link referring to “Download Your Admit Card.”

(c) The URL will take you to your login page after you click it. When you download your admission card, you must check the detailed information over. It will include the candidates’ name, roll number, contact details, photograph and signature, exam date and time, and exam center address. And if you find any discrepancy, you must contact promptly to the concerned department.

(d) You may print your JEST Exam 2022 entrance card.

How to Download JEST Result?

The participants can download their results only through the official website. They shall follow these steps to get the result:

(a) Visit the JEST’s official page.
(a) Click the URL provided on the official website.
(c) You need to enter your email address, password, and the required Captcha in order to log in to the result page.

(d) After entering all the required data and pressing the submit button, a screen showing your scores will pop up.
(e) From there, you can download your result.
