Each year, on August 30, India celebrates National Small Industry Day. It is an annual celebration that recognizes the contribution of small-scale industry to the development of India. The day is also committed to encouraging and supporting small businesses around the country and offering jobs to the unemployed and semi-unemployed people.
SSI (Small scale industries) and cottage industries are those in which manufacturing, providing services, and production are done on a small scale. More importantly, it solves the problem of unemployment and semi-unemployment.

After a year, the Ministry of small-scale industries (present-day Ministry of micro, small & medium enterprises) decided to declare the 30th of August each year as the National Small Industry Day.
