Eligibility Criteria for Master of Surgery Courses

(a) Applicant must have obtained MBBS or Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery or equivalent degree from the recognized medical institution.

(b) The candidates should also have secured at least 60% of total marks in order to meet the eligibility criteria. However, the qualified percentage to be eligible for a Master of surgery could vary from institute to institute.

(c) Upon completing their MBBS or equivalent degree, students must have gone through a one-year internship to fulfill the requirements for the Master of Surgery course.

(d) Institute allows students only on the basis of the entrance exam scorecard; therefore, it is a must for the aspirants to crack the entrance examination with the pre-requisite qualifying marks.

JIPMER, AIIMS & PGIMER are some institutions that conduct their own entrance test for Master of Surgery or Doctor of Medicine.  

For the unversed, the news was circulating all over social media that NEET-PG is going to change into the NeXT Entrance Test to offer admission into various postgraduate degrees in the medical space. It is being reported that from 2023 onwards, NExT will be the qualifying examination not just for final year MBBS students and for postgraduate seats in broad Specialities but will also apply to the Institutes of National Importance.
